PNP-Highway Patrol Group (HPG) spokesperson PSupt. Elizabeth Velasquez said, they will be opening four Mabuhay lanes as alternative routes from NLEX towards the airport, SLEX and CAVITEX without traversing EDSA.
“These will be the alternative routes without flying to EDSA because we are expecting heavy traffic for the ‘ber’ months,” said Velasquez.
Route 1 will be from Balintawak via Samson Road, C4 towards Roxas Boulevard to destination.
Route 2 will be from Balintawak via A. Bonifacio, Dimasalang, Quezon Boulevard and Lawton exiting Roxas Boulevard to destination.
Route 3 will be from Balintawak via Mayon St., Welcome Rotunda, Vicente Cruz, Nagtahan, Osmeña Highway towards SLEX.
Meanwhile, Route 4 will be from Balintawak via Araneta Avenue, N. Domingo, F. Manalo, Panaderos, Pedro Gil, Quirino Avenue, Plaza Dilao and Osmeña Highway towards SLEX.
Likewise, HPG will ask mall owners to maximize the two-day weekend sale with longer operating hours.
The agency will also ask them to organize their respective parking schemes and spaces so as not to block traffic in EDSA.

“We are very optimistic that they will agree because this is for all of us. They are also the one to benefit because the public will be able to go to their malls conveniently without so much traffic delays. Perhaps, what we need really is proper coordination,” Velasquez said. — Lea Ylagan | UNTV News & Rescue
