The Manila International Airport Authority (MIAA) is now focusing on resolving the heavy traffic around Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) as well as eliminating opportunistic taxi drivers from the airport.

They said it is to prepare for the next holiday season when the influx of passengers is even more expected.

At present, they are continuously communicating with the Transportation Department to manage the traffic around the airport.

MIAA General Manager Ed Monreal believes that it will be convenient for motorists to go to the airport once the construction of the NAIA Expressway is completed.

Meanwhile, he is calling for the cooperation of passengers to help them eliminate abusive taxi drivers from the airport terminals.

“I am asking for help from our passengers. They should not agree with paying a fixed fare [set by the driver]. They should pay based on the tariff. If they want to give a tip, it’s up to them,” Monreal said.

Monreal has a plea to opportunists who ruin the image of NAIA.

“They don’t even think about our country’s image. We must help each other. We cannot do this on our own. They must cooperate and respect the right thing to do. At the end of the day, it’s our country who’s being reflected.”

For complaints or reports about any irregularities at NAIA, reach NAIA customer hotline at 877-11-11 or send a text message through their textline number 0917-8396262. — Joan Nano | UNTV News & Rescue
